What to Include On Your Contact Page

Last Updated on May 24, 2023 by Paula

Websites use the contact page to get more page views than any other section of their website. It’s true! While some websites might throw up a quick contact us page as sort of an afterthought, you should spend some time on your contact page because this is likely where you’ll start building a relationship with your clients. Here is what to include on your contact page so you can begin that customer relationship on the right foot!

Why do I need a contact page?

Have you ever stopped to wonder why you need a contact form on your website? While it seems like an excellent way to share your email, a contact page is an important tool to grow your business!

Contact pages = more leads

The people who visit your website are already interested in working with you. They are on your website, after all! By having a contact page on your website, you allow them to get to that next step in the buying process, reaching out to you. You can use a contact form to collect their information and even add them to your email list. This is also an excellent way for people to contact you if they’re interested in buying from you or have questions.

Contact pages make you reachable

Your clients won’t always reach out to you via social media. Not everyone uses social media, and if they are already on your website and can’t find an easy way to contact you, they’ll go elsewhere. This means you could be losing out on a lot of business! Contact pages let your user know that you are reachable and ready to chat with them!

What should I include on a contact page?

You now know just how important a contact page can be for your business, but the term Contact Us is a little subjective. What do you include? What should I have on that page? Should it even be its own page?

I’m here to answer all of those questions!

The contact page should be easily accessible from your home page. Put it in a place that is both prominent on your website but that is also expected. You don’t want your users to have to hunt for your contact page.

Your contact page should also serve a few basic functions:

  • Let your visitor know why they should contact you.
  • A place where they can easily find your contact info such as email or phone number (if applicable).
  • A short form to help you understand who has contacted you.
  • A call to action to help keep people on your website or provide them with an alternative option if they don’t want to use the form.
  • Active social media accounts to give your viewers a chance to engage with your business on a different level.
  • A thank you page that explains how you will contact them.

How to design a contact form?

Putting together contact form sounds a little intense, but the reality is that there are so many great tools for building a form out there! I recommend Ninja forms because they are one of the best! Ninja forms allow you to create simple, beautiful, and user-friendly WordPress forms that look just like a professional web developer did them!

Creating a form is so easy! Here is how to do it:

  1. Download the Ninja Form plugin.
  2. In your WP dashboard, click Add New under Ninja Forms.
  3. Choose a template option. When you choose one, it will automatically apply the fields and stylings to your forms.

Adding a form to your website is just as easy! When you’re adding the form to your website, all you need to do is add the form to your page or post using the Ninja Forms Block.

Click on the block icon and search Ninja Form while editing the page or post. A dropdown will then appear, and you can choose your form. Once you’ve selected the form, it will fill in the block, and you can insert it within the page or post. That’s it! That’s all you need to do!

Contact page best practices

What’s the difference between a good contact us page and one that is not so good? The good ones tend to all follow the same basic practices, which I’m sharing with you now!

  • Check for grammar: Small grammatical errors can impact the first impression of your visitors. Make sure you go through your contact page multiple times to check for grammar.
  • Keep things simple: Don’t put too many barriers or clicks between your visitor and the contact info they’re looking for. Keep it short, sweet, and to the point as much as you can.
  • Give people what they want: What does someone need to be able to reach you? This is what they’re here to look for, after all. Whether you give out an email or a contact form, give people a way to reach you.
  • Make it look nice: When a user comes to your contact page, they start their first relationship with you. They want more information, and your contact page will be part of that first impression, so make it a good one!

There are so many things that you want to make sure that your contact page includes! This will help guide the potential client to the right places and ensure that they can reach you to ask questions or get more information.
