“If I’m not learning, then I’m not living.” One of my clients used to say this all the time. And it stuck with me.
I love learning new things and growing my skills so that I can better serve my clients. It’s part of what makes life and business interesting.
If you’re a lifelong learner and a online business owner, like me, then this post is for you! Here are nine women I’ve been following and learning from for a long time! They know their stuff and I hope you’ll check them out.
Mariah Magazine
I’ve been following Mariah for years! She is my favorite SEO expert. Her tutorials taught me how to set up Google Analytics and Google Search Console not just for myself but for my clients too. She knows her stuff and her blog and newsletter are full of good tips! And she has a YouTube channel too so no matter how you like to learn you have options.
Meg Casebolt
Meg is another one of my favorite SEO experts. Her take on the changes in SEO since AI has come along are amazing! Her free webinar, Search Evolved: Why AI Can’t Find You And How to Fix It, is a must watch for anyone who wants AI to recommend their services. Which I’m sure is almost every business owner out there. If you take the time to watch the free webinar, do the prompts! I did them and now I’m working on the areas I need to improve to become more visible to AI search.
Nicole Batey
I love Nicole’s podcast, Nicole Unfiltered! It’s a private feed so you may need to join her email list to get access. Her takes on online business for 2026 have been interesting to listen to. Especially if you are into collaborations like bundles and summits, she has insights into how they’re changing and working now. And she has an amazing voice!
Amber Gilormo, The Boutique Lawyer
It’s important to keep up with the legal side of business even if it’s not the most fun part of business. I started following Amber on Instagram and then joined her email list. She makes the legal stuff easy to understand. I also recently bought her web designer contract template. And it is fantastic! Her instructions make it super simple to customize.
Willow Paule
Willow is a client and friend and she is one of the best writer’s I know. Seriously, follow her over on Instagram! Especially if you like to follow people who bring their heart into their business. Also, sign up for her Creative Hours. I can’t attend as often as I like but these free monthly gatherings are always so fun! And they are a wonderful opportunity to truly connect with and learn from other online business owners.
Shannon Mattern
Shannon is another one I’ve been following for years! I started way back when her podcast was Pep Talks for Side-hustlers. Now she hosts the Profitable Web Designer Podcast and it’s a wonderful resource for web designers. I especially love her Income Report episodes. While it is interesting to hear what others are making, I love those episodes more for how vulnerable Shannon is in talking through her struggles around money mindset. It’s so helpful and encouraging.
Lizzy Goddard
If you’re selling digital products then chances are you already know who Lizzy is. Her brain is unlike any other and I mean that in the best way possible! I love her views on online business and having your own world that you are swirling people into. It’s great! She also writes interesting emails and has lots of helpful short trainings that are inexpensive. Clicks Don’t Lie and Sales Sparkles are two I purchased recently and loved! Go sign up for her email and get into her world. You won’t regret it.
Alma Bradford
I started following Alma back when I offered social media services and was even part of her monthly membership. Even though I don’t offer social media service anymore, I still follow Alma because she is so real! She is open and honest about her struggles and she truly gets what it’s like to be a service provider. Check out her YouTube channel here.
Maggie Patterson
Maggie is a recent follow but, oh my gosh! I’m glad I found her. I have never felt so seen and understood as a business owner as when I’m reading her emails or listening to her podcast. I love her outlook that our businesses can be “delightfully boring!” Such a great concept and one I embrace for sure. If you’re a solo service provider like me, then head over to her website and get into Maggie’s world.
Learning from others has played a huge role in how I’ve built my business and grown my skills. It’s helped me not only design better websites, but also support my clients more effectively in their own businesses.
And you can probably tell from this list, I like to learn from a variety of people and perspectives. Because the reality is, as business owners, we wear a lot of different hats. We need to understand things like SEO, legal, messaging, and strategy to truly run our businesses well.
Have someone you love learning from? I’d love to hear! Send me a message or share them with me!
