How to Maintain Your Coaching Website After it Goes Live

Maintaining your website can be just as if not more important than creating the website in the first place. There are a ton of working parts that make your website look good and run well, so this will require some maintenance from time to time. Keeping up with your website will not only create a valuable experience for your viewers but also help you stay ahead of the game. Making sure that your website is up to date is an essential to-do list item for both your business and your website. Here is how to maintain your coaching website after it goes live.

Regular Tasks to Do

When it comes to these regular tasks, these are the ones you want to look into doing weekly or monthly depending on how many plugins or how often you are putting new content on your website. While you may need to revisit some of these tasks more frequently, they are things you should put on your to-do list to regularly maintain your website.

Update Plugins

Plugins are needed for your website to run, and with that, you also need to make sure these plugins stay up to date. An outdated plugin can crash your site, keep something from working, or just create a poor experience for your potential clients. Every time you log in to your website, make sure to go to the plugins section of your WordPress dashboard. If there are any plugins that need updating, you can find them there.

Update WordPress

WordPress sometimes has updates for the platform. Make sure that you are also staying up to date with the latest version of WordPress. Sometimes an outdated WordPress could mean that you are losing out on new features, or that features that were previously functional no longer work.

Back up your website

Whether you use a plugin or another service to do this, make sure you are backing up your site. A ton of things can happen to a website, and losing all of your hard work and content is something that can happen! To help keep this from happening, make sure that you are backing up your website on a regular basis.

Create new content for your blog

This includes blog content and video content as well. Every so often, you want to put something new to drive traffic to your webpage. Whether it’s an informative article to help explain something you do or a video Q&A with your followers, make sure that you are putting something new for your viewers on your website at least monthly if not more frequently.

Periodic Tasks To Do

These are tasks you want to look into doing for your website every few months or even a few times per year. How often you need to revisit these tasks will mostly depend on how much new content you put out, how often you change your call to action, etc.

Change your password

It’s also important to keep your passwords safe! You can do this by using a password manager and using it to generate your passwords. Another option is to make sure you use a mix of capital and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

Audit your plugins

Websites use a lot of plugins to function well, make sure that yours are getting good mileage! Are there any duplicates or ones that do the same thing? Do you use them all? Now is a good time to check!

Update your headshots

Make sure to put any updated headshots on your socials too! You can also use your updated headshots on things like your rate sheets and other handouts too, so make sure you update those.

Review your Call to Actions

Periodically make sure that your call to action is still relevant to your business goals and that each page has one! You may need to update these more regularly depending on how often your call to action changes.

Look for Broken Links

Dead Link Checker or Screaming Frog are great for checking broken links! Broken links are bad for both your customer experience and for search engine optimization, so make sure to do this regularly!

Review the Mobile version of your website

Are there any issues with the page? Are there any changes you need to make?

Review your Media Page

Do you have new features or old ones you need to remove?

As you can see, there are a lot of things you need to do to maintain your coaching website. By doing these tasks on a regular and periodic basis, you can make sure you’re always putting your best foot forward when it comes to your website. While working on your website can be a tedious task, these are just some of the many things you need to make sure you do.
