The Importance of a Thank You Page After Someone Subscribes

A website consists of a lot of different pages. Each of those pages serves a different purpose for your audience and can help them find useful information and even purchase products or services from your business. However, one type of page is a goldmine for anyone with a product or service to sell. This isn’t your product page, about page, or even the checkout page! This is your thank you page. You might be thinking to yourself, how could a thank you page become a goldmine for my business? In this article, I’m going to show you how and why it’s so important!

What is a Thank You Page?

A thank you page is what you will find after a conversion is made on your website. This could be after someone signs up for a newsletter or purchases a product. This is the next step beyond a conversion funnel and can help you get repeat conversions going forward.

In some cases, a thank you page is a simple way to express gratitude to your customer and thank them for making a purchase or subscribing to your email list. However, you can also use a thank you page to encourage them to take another action such as upgrade their service, buy another course, or even sign up for a webinar.

Why Do I Need a Thank You Page?

If you can do your thank you page correctly, this simple page will become a selling machine for any product or service you offer. However, if you get it wrong, it could be the start of a rocky relationship with your new customer. 

When someone commits to signing up for your newsletter or purchasing a product, they are already engaged and interested buyers of your service or product. This means that by offering them an upsell on your thank you page, you can get these people who are already interested in purchasing to continue purchasing from you!

What Should I Include on a Thank You Page?

Thank you pages will vary based on what you are trying to get your customer to do. However, a perfect thank you page will still consist of these three elements:

  • A clear call to action
  • A confirmation message
  • Instructions for how to proceed with your upsell

A clear call to action

After thanking them for completing an action, you want to give your reader a clear call to action for what they should do next. It should be clear and concise with easy-to-follow steps. Your call to action will depend on what action led them to this page, your current sales funnel, and what goal you have in mind for this call to action.

For example, you could offer them a coaching package after signing up for one of your courses; you could encourage them to buy your book after having them sign up for your course.

A confirmation message

Your confirmation message is just that, a way to confirm an action. It’s a way for the user to verify that the action they did was a success. It can be something like thank you for your order or thank you for subscribing.

Instructions for how to proceed 

You want to ensure that the instructions on your thank you page are very clear. This will not only set the expectations of how you want your user to proceed next, but you should provide value in following those steps. 

For example, if your user opted-in to your sign-up form because of the promise of a free book, tell them how to get a hold of that book. Ensure that this is very easy to find and stands out from the rest of the text on your thank you page.

How to Use a Thank You Page as a Tripwire for a Digital Product

A thank you page is a great place to include a tripwire for a digital product you are offering! The key is to make sure that this tripwire is a low-price offer related to your original opt-in. This could be something that you want to convince your visitors to buy or something that would be of interest to a group that just purchased something from you.

In your thank you page, use your call to action to drive them to a digital product that makes sense for that audience. Creating scarcity or a limited time offer works well on a thank you page, including a countdown timer in an easy-to-see spot!

As you can see, creating a thank you page for your business transactions and opt-ins is a no-brainer! This is an easy way to recoup your marketing costs, increase sales, and provide value to your readers! Whether they are just signing up for your email list or completing a purchase, using a thank you page can offer tremendous value to your audience beyond a few simple words of gratitude.
