Running an online business means that you need tools to reach your audience and clients. And one of those tools you need is an email marketing tool! Two of my favorites for sending emails and other outreach tasks are Mailerlite and Convertkit.
Both of these tools have amazing features that can reach your audience in a short amount of time. Even though they are similar, there are some differences between them. If you’re looking for the pros and cons of Mailerlite vs. Convertkit, you’ll find those key differences here that can then help you decide which is best suited for your online business.
Mailerlite vs Convertkit
When you’re deciding what platform is best, it’s important to weigh all the differences to decide what is going to be the best bang for your buck.
Managing contacts
Since you’re going to be wanting a platform that can host all your subscribers you’ll want to look at the monthly fees and amount of subscribers that you have. Then decide which platform best fits your budget.
Mailerlite has a strong FOREVER FREE PLAN that will actually let you use their platform for free as long as you have 1,000 or fewer users at any given time.
Convertkit, on the other hand, has a free trial period, but then they do start charging a monthly fee after that.
The biggest thing to keep in mind when you’re looking at having to potentially pay for each customer is that you need to monitor your engagement percentage so that you can clear out your list from those who aren’t actually active. I would say that looking at this monthly is a great way to get rid of anyone who might be on your email list but isn’t even opening your emails. Then you can always remove them to make space for a more engaged subscriber
Customer Service
Since you’re going to be using one of these platforms as the main way to communicate with your audience, it’s important to know that you can actually reach someone at the companies that can help with any and all issues once they arrive.
Mailerlite and Convertkit both have great customer service departments that are available to chat or email, which is great.
You will notice that Mailerlite has 24/7 customer support options which means that you can get in touch with someone at any given point in time during the day. (This is great if you’re a night owl like I am! You never know when you’re going to need an answer to your burning question at 3 AM.)
Convertkit has the option to chat and email as well, but they have a limited time during the day to do so.
Landing pages
Both offer benefits to building landing pages, so it’s important to decide how and when you’re going to set one up. If you’re hoping to send out emails to direct people to a landing page, this is a thought process and creation that you need to think about before making a choice.
Mailerlite has great templates that make it super simple to create a Landing Page in a short amount of time. This can save you stress and time and give you the confidence to boost your knowledge easily.
Mailerlit also uses drag and drop blocks that make for a nice and clean look and fast construction of your landing page overall.
Convertkit also has templates to choose from, but you’ll find them to be a bit more limited in choice. It’s important to note that even though they’re more limited, they’re still beautiful designs that you can easily work with.
Changing the templates with Convertkit isn’t really an option besides changing the layout and color scheme so keep that in mind when you’re making your choice.
Is Mailerlite or Convertkit better?
This really all depends on what you’re hoping to accomplish. There are many pros to both, and it really comes down to you weighing out the options. Many online businesses and bloggers use both as a great way to scale their businesses quickly.
You just have to decide whether or not you’re going to use the platform to grow your mailing list or spend the time swapping out and trying to keep it free.
Most people have tried either option at some point in time in the online business journey, so it’s a good idea to ask around and get the opinions of others as well. And if you find a newsletter that you like arriving in your inbox, track down where it came from to see what company can create that look.
Overall, choose the best platform that makes your outreach to your audience easier and on-brand with the rest of your business.
